On Sunday February 26 David and his family will be participating in the Walk 4 Friendship, a fundraising event for the Friendship Circle, a non-profit organisation that offers assistance and support for children and young adults with special needs and their families.
All participants in the walk will take part in a 5km walk through Caulfield (or a 3km family option) and will have their own web page to promote their walk and receive donations from friends, family and colleagues. Participants can join as individuals or can make a team with friends, family, classmates or colleagues.
The money raised will go to help provide a wide range of different programs such as school holiday day camps, weekend retreats, life skill programs, home visitation and volunteer programs, mothers’ night out evenings, sibling support programs and volunteer leadership training sessions.
In addition to the walk, the afternoon will also feature a Friendship Fair, which will include food and entertainment, including a hilarious comedy and acrobatics performance from The Twins From France.
“The Friendship Circle does so much to bring joy and laughter into the lives of those with special needs and to help them acquire a strong sense of confidence, self-esteem and community belonging,” David said. “I am looking forward to taking part in the walk with my family and I encourage everyone in the community to attend and show solidarity with this fantastic organisation.”
The Walk 4 Friendship will take place on Sunday February 26 starting at Princess Park, cnr Hawthorn Rd & Maple St, Caulfield South.
Registration will begin at 3:00 PM and the walk will take place from 4:00 PM. The Friendship Fair will begin at 5:00PM.
