National Council of Jewish Women of Australia

This week the National Council of Jewish Women of Australia held its annual conference in Melbourne. This vibrant organisation provides civic-minded women with the opportunity to debate and discuss and to serve their communities. Their philanthropy is commendable and is an excellent part of our charitable sector. I had the privilege recently of attending their conference opening function at the home of Lady Marigold Southey, and last night my wife joined the attendees at the closing event that concluded a fantastic and enjoyable week.

I congratulate the National Council of Jewish Women of Australia on its continuing work and in particular pay tribute to the outgoing president, Rysia Rozen, for her outstanding service to the council.

Rysia served as president for four years and in 2007 received the Medal of the Order of Australia as well as the 2001 Centenary Medal for her services to the council and the Jewish community of Victoria.
